Abstract:
This article summarizes recent developments in supporting individuals experiencing suicidal suffering, as proposed by the Groupe Romand Prévention Suicide, in line with evolving international practices. It outlines the changes to the training program formerly known as Facing Suicide Risk, now renamed Suicide Prevention: Engaging and Supporting. The article presents the new conceptual model underpinning the training (RENCONTRE), along with a tool designed to support its implementation by healthcare professionals (PILOT). These changes reflect growing awareness of the potentially harmful effects of explanatory models of suicide based on predictive logic, which may suggest that every suicide is preventable. The proposed approach promotes a more humane, humble form of suicide prevention, grounded in collaborative engagement.
