Sagittally focusing X-ray spectrometer in asymmetric Laue geometry
Abstract:
A sagittally focusing transmission-diffraction X-ray spectrometer is proposed. Sagittal focusing is achieved using an asymmetric Laue reflection. The shape of the crystal is constructed to achieve sagittal focusing of the X-ray spectrum into a line on a flat detector pointed at the crystal. We show that the resulting X-ray flux (photons/area) delivered to the detector can be greater by more than two orders of magnitude compared to that of a sagittally flat Laue spectrometer.
