Modelling frequency transfer quality in telecommunication DWDM networks
Abstract:
This paper presents a model suitable for quality assessment of frequency transfer via unidirectional wavelength channels in unmodified DWDM telecommunication networks. The main sources of asymmetric phase changes in the DWDM system were identified, and their models were proposed. The model description is supplemented with simulation results showing the impact of both fiber optic lines and the DWDM equipment. Experimental verification of the modelling accuracy and examples of using the model for practical cases are also presented. The proposed modeling scheme is universal and independent of the specific frequency transfer technique.
