Epidermal stem cells (EpiSCs) are mainly located at the basal layer of the epidermis. These cells repair minor injuries of the skin and replace dead skin cells. Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine if 3-month PROs (SCAR-Q domains: psychosocial, appearance, quality of life) predict 12-month scar outcomes.
  • To assess the relationship between early PROs and objective scar measures.

  • Prospective cohort study of 20 female surgical patients.
  • Collected SCAR-Q and Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) data at 3 and 12 months.
