Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the impact of mobile-application-based performance feedback (MABPF) on physical activity (PA) levels and sedentary time (ST).
  • To compare the effectiveness of MABPF with and without hourly reminders in a university staff population.
  • To assess the potential of MABPF for promoting PA in workplace settings.

Main Methods:

  • A 12-week randomized controlled trial involving 150 university staff.
  • Three groups: MABPF with hourly reminders, MABPF only, and a control group.
  • PA and ST assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-short form, pedometers, and Google Fit.

  • Both MABPF groups showed significant improvements in PA metrics (step counts, walking scores, moderate-to-vigorous PA) and reduced ST.

  • The study supports the integration of MABPF into occupational health strategies.
