Periodontitis and high phosphate intake alone or in combination adversely affect the kidney

High phosphate intake and periodontitis worsen kidney damage synergistically. Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) inhibition reversed these adverse effects, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for combined renal injury.
