The Tumbarello scoring system is not recommended for identifying extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing infections in Colombian urinary tract infections (UTIs). High ESBL prevalence makes this tool ineffective, potentially leading to overuse of broad-spectrum antibiotics.
