This resource announcement describes the complete genome sequence of a Staphylococcus shinii isolate obtained from vine mealybug (Planococcus ficus), an important vineyard pest insect. The S. shinii species was originally characterized from environmental samples and some strains are entomopathogenic. This genome sequence will facilitate further characterization for potential insect biological control.
