Background:

Self-care strategies can reduce chronic migraine frequency and intensity.
Existing literature lacks a validated scale to assess self-care in chronic migraine patients.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and validate a scale for assessing self-care in individuals diagnosed with chronic migraine.

Main Methods:

Methodological study involving 156 migraine patients.
Data collected using a Personal Information Form and the Migraine Self-Care Scale.
Validity assessed via exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, and content validity index.
Reliability tested using Pearson's correlation and Cronbach's alpha.

Main Results:

The Migraine Self-Care Scale demonstrated a valid and reliable three-dimensional structure with 14 items.
Scale validity confirmed by AGFI > 0.85 and CFI > 0.92; content validity index was 99%.
Internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) was 0.780; test-retest reliability showed no significant score variation.

Conclusions:

The Migraine Self-Care Scale is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring self-care in migraine patients.
Higher scores on the scale indicate improved self-care practices among migraine sufferers.
The scale can be utilized as a valuable measurement tool in clinical and research settings for migraine management.
