Blocking Interleukin-18 (IL-18) with IL-18 binding protein (IL-18BP) improved cardiac function in mice fed a Western diet. This intervention rescued diastolic dysfunction independently of weight gain or glucose tolerance changes.

- IL-18BP effectively rescued cardiac function in mice experiencing WD-induced diastolic dysfunction.
- The beneficial effects of IL-18BP were independent of changes in body weight or glucose tolerance.
- These findings highlight the critical and independent role of IL-18 in diet-induced cardiac dysfunction.
