Abstract:
A new polyphenolic compound, vinmonone (1), together with 15 previously reported compounds (2 - 16) were isolated and characterised from the whole herbs of Vincetoxicum mongolicum Maxim. The structure of new compound (1) was determined through NMR and HR-ESI-MS spectroscopic data analysis. Biological assay results showed that compounds 7 - 9, 11 and 12 showed antioxidant activity with IC50 5.6, 11.8, 5.4, 6.2, 11.2 ug/mL, respectively, compounds 7, 9 and 11 showed tyrosinase inhibitory activity with IC50 33.1, 30.1, 34.7 ug/mL, respectively. In addition, compounds 3 and 16 showed anti-bacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus with MIC 25.1, 20.5 ug/mL, respectively, compounds 3 and 7 also showed anti-fungi activity against Candida albicans with MIC 3.4, 4.8 μg/mL, respectively. These finding provides a scientific basis for elucidating the chemical diversity and activity of V. mongolicum.
