Abstract:
Epilepsy associated with brain tumors (BTs) is an urgent interdisciplinary problem of modern medicine and attracts the attention of neurologists, epileptologists, oncologists, and neurosurgeons. Epileptic seizures can be the first manifestation of BT, aggravate the course of the underlying disease, and worsen its prognosis. With the introduction of new antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), there are ample opportunities to treat patients with BT-associated epilepsy. International and Russian literature on the features of the treatment of BT-related epilepsy, approaches to managing such patients, the choice of AEDs, considering interactions with chemotherapeutic drugs, and the effectiveness and safety of various AEDs for tumor-associated epilepsy was reviewed.
