Analgesic Effect of Vibratory Devices Associated with Carboxytherapy for Cellulite: Randomized Controlled Trial

Introduction:
Vibrational stimulation analgesia has been shown to be effective during injectable procedures in dermatology, but its analgesic effect associated with carboxytherapy has not yet been studied.
Objective:
To investigate the analgesic effect of two vibratory devices during carboxytherapy in women with gluteal cellulite.
Methods:
Seventy-eight women, aged 18 to 49 years, with moderate and/or severe gluteal cellulite, were randomly assigned to three groups: Vibratory Device Group 1-VDG1 (Carboxytherapy and vibratory device Vibrata®) (n = 26), Vibratory Device Group 2-VDG2 (Carboxytherapy and vibratory device BlaineLabs®) (n = 26), and a control group (Carboxytherapy only) (n = 26). Pain intensity was measured immediately after each puncture in a single session using the numeric pain rating scale (0-10).
Results:
There was no significant difference in pain intensity among the groups: VDG1 (4.95 ± 2.35); VDG2 (4.90 ± 2.22); and control (4.97 ± 2.43) (p =.997).
Conclusion:
Vibratory devices did not decrease pain intensity during carboxytherapy in women with gluteal cellulite. Despite this, the study addresses an important gap and lays the foundation for future clinical trials on pain management in aesthetic body procedures.
