Abstract:
A proficient, prolific, and productive organophotoredox-catalyzed visible-light-driven sulfonylation strategy has been developed for the synthesis of β-ketosulfones, α-sulfones, and vinyl sulfones under benign conditions. The effective sustainable multicomponent methodology consists of operational simplicity, safety, and hazard-free versatility in desired bioactive sulfones, broad substrate compatibility with good to excellent yields, and eco-friendliness to combine alkene/alkynes, DABCO(SO2)2, and aryl diazonium salts engaging mesityl acridinium perchlorate as a photocatalyst. Herein, a mechanistic hypothesis is outlined based on the quenching experiments and some logically controlled experiments.
