Introduction:
Urethral stricture is a common condition in men that can significantly impair quality of life. The Urethral Stricture Surgery - Patient Reported Outcome Measure (USS-PROM) is a validated questionnaire that assesses urinary symptoms, quality of life, and patient's satisfaction following urethroplasty. However, no validated French version is currently available.
Methods:
First, the questionnaire was translated into French by two bilingual native French speakers. It was then back-translated into English by two bilingual native English speakers to ensure that no distortion from the original questionnaire had occurred. Then, the French version was reviewed by a panel of expert urologists in the field before being administered to a panel of patients.
Results:
The panel of urologists approved the French version of the questionnaire. The final version was administered to 10 consecutive men who had undergone an urethroplasty. All items received an average score above 9/10 for clarity and comprehension.
Conclusion:
This French version of the USS-PROM questionnaire provides a promising tool to evaluate clinical outcomes and satisfaction of patients undergoing an urethroplasty. A multicenter study is currently underway to carry out the external validation of this questionnaire.
