This work shows that the overpotentials required for achieving ∼90% CO faradaic efficiency in CO2 reduction significantly decreased upon increasing the thickness of nanoporous Ag. This enhanced performance on thicker nanoporous Ag is not correlated with local pH effects, but with facile charge transfer for CO2 activation.
