High-entropy ceramics (HECs) exhibit excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of corrosive media, due to their unique composition design and synergistic interactions between multiple components, demonstrating tremendous application potential in modern industry and high-tech fields. In this paper, the concept of high-entropy materials and the classification and preparation methods of high-entropy ceramics were introduced first, the research progress on the corrosion, mechanism, and corrosion performance of high-entropy ceramics were reviewed, and the characteristics of corrosion behavior in different environments and the performance advantages of high-entropy ceramics were discussed, different reasons for the composition, formation process, and stability of the corrosion film on the surface of high-entropy ceramics in a variety of corrosive media were clarified, the forms of corrosion occurrence, corrosion products, and corrosion mechanisms were sorted out, the corrosion performances of high-entropy ceramics were evaluated, and the influence of the composition, structure, preparation method, and preparation process of high-entropy ceramics on the corrosion performance of high-entropy ceramics were further analyzed. Finally, this paper looks ahead to future research directions for high-entropy ceramics and lays out the theoretical basis for their potential applications in corrosion protection.
