Discovery of three new cycloartane triterpene from Dysoxylum gotadhora

Abstract:
Dysoxylum gotadhora (Buch.-Ham.) Mabb. (Syn. Dysoxylum binectariferum Hook.f. ex Bed) a member of the Meliaceae family is renowned for its therapeutic properties attributed to its rich variety of phytochemicals. Recent studies have emphasised the plant's high concentration of cycloartane triterpenes. In this study, we present the identification of three new cycloartane triterpenoids (1-3) purified from the chloroform extracts of D. gotadhora leaves. Compound 1 has been identified as 2-α-methoxy beddomeilactol. Compound 2 differs from beddomeilactol, which has a unique long-chain moiety attached to C-17 position, while Compound 3 has been identified as 3-4-seco cycloartane triterpenoid. The structures of these cycloartane triterpenoids were determined using HRMS and 1D NMR techniques, with their relative stereochemistry confirmed through comprehensive 2D NMR analysis. This study was also supported by the LCMS analysis of the chloroform extract.
