Recent advancements of matrix solid-phase dispersion for food analysis: A greenness evaluation of methods

Abstract:
In recent years, concern about environmental impacts has continually increased. Green Analytical Chemistry (GAC) was created to develop methods with lower environmental impacts and better safety for operators, and the 12 principles of GAC were established. Additionally, metrics have been developed to evaluate the greenness of methods, contributing to sustainability of analytical methods. Among the green extraction methods, matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) stands out as a simple and low-cost approach used to extract different analytes. This review presents a report on the evolution of GAC for MSPD-based methods, focusing on organic analysis (2015-2025) and inorganic analysis (2008-2025) in foods, as well as the application of the AGREE metric. Topics such as the principles and applications of MSPD have also been reviewed.
