Developing a primary school teacher attitude scale for the use of ChatGPT in mathematics education
1Ministry of National Education, Primary Education, Ankara, Turkey.
Abstract:
The research has the objective of developing a valid and reliable scale to determine primary school teachers' attitudes towards utilising ChatGPT in mathematics education. In this study, 250 teachers from the Ankara province in Türkiye participated in the pilot study, and 300 teachers participated in the main study. EFA (Exploratory factor analysis), CFA (Confirmatory factor analysis), and tests of discriminant validity were used to analyse the data. The findings indicate that the scale consists of 30 items and two dimensions. Furthermore, the CR (Composite reliability) index value was determined as 0.96, and the AVE (Average variance extracted) value as 0.47. The scale was consequently developed as being valid and reliable. It is recommended that it be applied to teachers in different countries and different groups.
