[German Respiratory Society: Three years of statutory reform: What we sought - What we have achieved]

The German Respiratory Society (DGP) has undergone a profound reform of its organizational structure and working practices over the past five years. The revised statutes, adopted by the General Assembly in Leipzig on 27 May 2022, came into force at the end of that year. Subsequently, on 22 March 2024, the General Assembly in Mannheim approved a reorganization of the DGP's scientific groups.This article puts the objectives and underlying rationale of the structural reform in a broader context, outlines the development process, and illustrates how the DGP is implementing these changes.
