Summary

A brief reframing intervention significantly reduced negative thinking and increased physical activity (PA) in individuals with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). These positive changes in PA were sustained for at least four weeks post-intervention.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the impact of a brief reframing intervention on physical activity (PA) behaviors and cognitive biases in individuals with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Main Methods:

  • A mixed-method, single-arm study involving 22 individuals with MS who underwent a ~15-minute reframing session.
  • Participants completed surveys assessing cognitive errors and PA at baseline, post-intervention, and at 1 and 4 weeks.
  • Qualitative interviews were conducted at 1 week to explore individual experiences and perceived changes.

Main Results:

  • Cognitive errors significantly decreased by 1 week post-intervention (p=0.013).
