Abstract:
General surgeons may encounter complex gallbladder cases throughout their careers, particularly in the context of acute or complicated gallbladder disease. The risk of bile duct injury is significantly elevated during non-elective procedures due to factors such as inflammation and anatomical variations. Over the past decade, robotic surgery has seen increasing adoption in hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) procedures, offering enhanced visualization, improved instrument dexterity, and greater surgical precision. These advantages are especially valuable in the minimally invasive management of complex biliary injuries. Several authors have demonstrated the feasibility of robotic surgery for both acute and delayed bile duct repair. The video provides an educational demonstration of this minimally invasive procedure, serving as a practical guide for surgeons and trainees managing such complications. It illustrates the feasibility of the robotic technique and its association with favorable patient outcomes, underscoring the potential value of this approach in complex cases.
