Biodegradable plastics have garnered extensive attention as promising alternatives to conventional synthetic plastics. However, their mechanical properties, water vapor barrier capacity, and thermal stability still require further enhancement to fulfill market requirements. This review summarizes approaches for improving the performance of biodegradable plastics, including filling, coating, and electrospinning, and analyzes how these methods influence their biodegradability. Furthermore, the applications of biodegradable plastics are discussed, highlighting that their development is both sustainable and practical.
