Background:
Special breastfeeding training is rare in China and contradicts clinical expectations for students.Multidisciplinary team (MDT) approaches have been extensively advocated in nursing education. However, the incorporation of MDT education to enhance students' knowledge of breastfeeding remains insufficient and constrained.
Objective:
To examine the change in knowledge of nursing students in China following a clinical MDT education intervention on breastfeeding.
Methods:
This was a 2-arm randomized controlled trial. This study examined differences in pre- and posttest breastfeeding knowledge scores of experimental and control groups. The intervention group adopted the MDT teaching method, the control group received a routine training model. A comparative analysis of subindicators, which consisted of satisfaction levels among students, teachers, and administrators was conducted.
Results:
The breastfeeding knowledge and satisfaction of the intervention group exceeded that of the control group. There were differences in enhancement scores between the intervention and control groups.
Conclusion:
The MDT educational intervention notably bolstered nursing students' breastfeeding knowledge.It is advisable to heighten awareness of educational initiatives and establish a robust foundation for future breastfeeding promotion endeavors.
