Six-Strand Hamstring Autograft Technique for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

Arthroscopic reconstruction is the standard approach for the anterior cruciate ligament. In studies, anterior cruciate ligament graft rupture occurs more frequently in hamstring autografts than in patellar tendon autografts. Small-diameter hamstring autografts measuring 7 mm or less have been associated with an increased risk of failure or rerupture. In this Technical Note, we aimed to increase the graft thickness and durability by preparing 6 strands of hamstring graft. Thus, we think that graft rupture will occur less frequently.
