Abstract:
This dataset presents the performance and stability analysis of 20 multi-parent maize hybrids evaluated under contrasting agroclimatic conditions, including normal, drought-stressed, and shade-stressed environments. Advanced multivariate techniques such as GGE Biplot, Multi-Trait Stability Index (MTSI), and Multi-Trait Genotype-Ideotype Distance Index (MGIDI) were employed to assess grain yield, biomass, and genotype adaptability. The results identified genotype R3-19 as the top performer in biomass under drought conditions during the second season (E6), while genotype R3-17 exhibited superior multi-trait stability across all tested environments. Environments E6 and E2 were found to be the most discriminative for selecting stress-tolerant genotypes. This comprehensive phenotypic dataset serves as a valuable resource for maize breeding programs focused on enhancing tolerance to abiotic stresses, particularly in the context of climate change. The findings contribute to the development of resilient maize varieties tailored for tropical environments.
