Aim:
This study aims to evaluate the effects of using ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence tool, in nursing education on the learning process in a multidimensional way BACKGROUND: Integrating artificial intelligence technologies into nursing education can transform educational processes while helping students develop ethical decision-making and personalized care skills in patient care. In this context, the study examining the impact of artificial intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT, on the perceptions and experiences of nursing students is crucial in understanding the transformation in education and providing effective implementation suggestions for the future.
Design:
A mixed method METHODS: Focus group interviews were conducted as part of the qualitative research. In the quantitative part, an 'academic achievement test' was applied. The study was conducted between December 2024 and October 2025 with third-year nursing students. In analyzing the quantitative data, independent samples t-tests were conducted using SPSS software, while NVivo 15 software was employed for the qualitative data analysis.
Result:
Our findings revealed three main themes: (1) 'the importance of the physical environment in education,' (2) 'limitations of artificial intelligence -supported education,' and (3) 'the supporting role of artificial intelligence and the hybrid learning model.'
Conclusion:
The use of artificial intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT, in nursing education had an impact.on students' perceptions and experiences of the learning process, highlighting the absence of elements such as social interaction, motivation and teacher support, which are typically provided through face-to-face education.
