A Cyclic Diselenide-Based BODIPY Probe for the Selective Detection of Hydrogen Peroxide

Methyl-substituted cyclic diselenide containing boron dipyrromethane (BODIPY) probe was synthesized and characterized with common spectroscopic techniques. The probe was found to be selective for the detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The detection limit of the probe for H2O2 was determined to be 44 nM. Finally, the cell viability analysis of the probe was performed using the mouse fibroblast NIH3T3 and HUVEC cell lines, where the probe was found to be nontoxic and can be used for in-vivo applications.
