Objective:

Methods:
Five hundred babies were born before they were due at less than 37 weeks of pregnancy. Standardized methods were used to measure growth factors like weight, length, and head size at regular times. At certain times, developmental goals were checked off.
Results:
Infants born before their due dates grew quickly during their first 2 years of life, gaining a lot of weight, length, and head size. However, preterm babies were slower than term infants to reach developmental goals, especially in the language and social-emotional areas.
