In this study, three types of metamaterial cells, including honeycomb, cubic, and tetrachiral, were selected based on their high performance under compression test. Then, different arrangements of these cells created four new metamaterial structures named HT, HC, TC, and HTC. Because the aim of this research is to maximize specific energy absorption (SEA), cells were chosen based on their mechanical properties. After that, the structures were manufactured with a 3D printer, and compression tests were performed on them. Results showed that the HT structure had the highest SEA, followed by HTC, HC, and TC. Moreover, these structures have a higher SEA than solid specimens and many other metamaterial structures. In addition, all of them had negative Poisson's ratios between - 1 and - 1.7.
