Research progress on postoperative delirium in pseudomyxoma peritonei

Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) is a rare malignant tumor, with cytoreductive surgery (CRS) serving as the primary treatment. Postoperative delirium (POD) is an important complication for PMP patients and is associated with poor prognosis. However, there are currently few reports on POD in PMP, both domestically and internationally, warranting further research. This article reviews the definition, pathogenesis, assessment methods, risk factors, and preventive and therapeutic measures for POD, with a focus on the unique characteristics of PMP. Early recognition and optimized management of POD in PMP patients can reduce its incidence, improve outcomes, and enhance quality of life.
