Purpose:
The demand for gender-affirming surgery among transfeminine individuals is increasing, with voice feminization surgery (VFS) emerging as a key component of comprehensive care. This international survey among members of the International Association of TransVoice Surgeons (IATVS) explores current practices in VFS.
Methods:
Data were collected from 24 phonosurgeons via an online questionnaire in August and September 2024. The study examines surgical techniques, preoperative assessments, postoperative care, and the management of complications.
Results:
Wendler glottoplasty and its variants are the dominant current surgical approaches. However, preoperative and postoperative protocols vary significantly.
Conclusions:
The findings highlight the need for standardized guidelines and underscore areas for further research to optimize patient outcomes.
