Holography in your pocket: generating full-parallax portraits with an iPhone
Abstract:
This paper presents a method for creating digital holographic portraits using a new-generation iPhone. The depth and RGB data from the high-efficiency image file format were used to generate a textured 3D mesh in Blender. Perspective images were rendered using a virtual camera rig for the CHIMERA holographic technology. Full-parallax holograms were printed on silver halide plates and reconstructed using RGB LEDs. This approach offers a new, to the best of our knowledge, low-cost and accessible workflow for digital holography, leveraging consumer devices and open-source software.
