Mapping Scientific Trends and Collaboration Networks in Voice Rehabilitation After Laryngectomy

The objective of this study was to determine the current research points in voice rehabilitation after total laryngectomy (TL) and to analyze the collaborative efforts among researchers, journals, institutions, and countries. Articles and reviews indexed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded of the Web of Science core collection from 1980 to 2025 were analyzed with respect to voice rehabilitation after TL. Publications were examined by characteristics such as country of origin, institutions, authors, journals, keywords, and collaborations. A total of 1578 articles and reviews related to voice rehabilitation after TL were identified in the Web of Science. The number of publications has significantly increased over the last 30 years. The two countries making the greatest contribution to the literature were the USA and the Netherlands. Most articles originated from high-impact journals such as Laryngoscope, Head and Neck - Journal for the Sciences and Specialties of the Head and Neck, and Journal of Voice. Before 2016, the most common keywords were laryngectomy, voice prosthesis, and TL, while after 2016, keywords related to voice evaluation, such as voice rehabilitation, voice therapy, and voice assessment, were more frequently used. This bibliometric analysis demonstrates a rising trend in voice rehabilitation studies over the past 30 years. Voice rehabilitation after TL is essential for patients' quality of life. This is supported by the recent increase in publications and greater use of voice evaluation-related keywords.
