Compared with other forms of fractures, patellar fractures are relatively rare. For the treatment of patellar fractures, a wide variety of surgical fixation methods have been developed. Nevertheless, most of them apply to transverse and comminuted fractures, and there is no surgical fixation method specifically for longitudinal patellar fractures. This article describes a technique for treating longitudinal patellar fractures with slight comminution by using an OD suture 8-shaped winding fixation method under arthroscopy. This technique is carried out under arthroscopic guidance throughout, taking full advantage of the feature of less tension at the fracture site during longitudinal fracture. No metal fixation materials are used, effectively limiting the pain caused by hard object stimulation, which is the most common postoperative complication. At the same time, it avoids the need for a second operation, which is helpful to alleviate the patient's discomfort, thereby improving the therapeutic effect of longitudinal patellar fracture.
