Abstract:
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have a critical role in controlling myogenesis and the quality of meat in beef cattle. Numerous miRNA types have been identified to have regulatory roles in the development of bovine skeletal muscle, including Bta-miR-130, miR-148a-3p, miR-224, Bta-miR-182, Bta-miR-183, and Bta-miR-338, as well as miR-214, miR-26a, miR-206, miR-885, and miR-196a. Exploring the intricate regulation system of microRNAs in the development of muscles and quality traits can offer valuable insights for enhancing beef production and meat quality. Investigations into the effects of microRNAs on myogenesis and meat characteristics could result in novel breeding strategies and genetic enhancement initiatives. Additionally, microRNAs could function as biomarkers for assessing meat quality in beef cattle, providing opportunities to modulate muscle growth, composition, and overall characteristics within livestock species ultimately yielding high-quality meats aligned with consumer preferences. This paper delves into role of microRNAs in myogenesis and their functions in beef cattle meat quality while focusing on their potential as targets for genetic improvement to increase production potential and quality. Recognizing the impact of microRNA on shaping meat quality has the potential to revolutionize global competitiveness within the Beef industry. Recent genomics advancements, including molecular markers and genetic variations, can boost animal productivity, meeting global demands for high-quality meat products. This review paper will establishes a foundation for future research on understanding regulatory networks linked to Myogenesis and function of micro RNAs in meat quality, contributing to both scholarly knowledge advancement and practical applications within animal agriculture.
