Multi-walled carbon nanotubes promote recovery after stroke injury

Abstract:
In this study,multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTS) with anti-inflammatory properties were developed through physical synthesis methods, and their therapeutic potential for acute ischemia-reperfusion stroke (MACO) was evaluated. In vitro experiments have shown that MWCNT can significantly reduce the ROS level in neurons and decrease the expression of apoptosis-related proteins.Animal experiments have confirmed that in the MWCNT treatment group, the neurological deficit score has improved, the efficiency of ROS clearance in the microenvironment has increased, and the infarction volume has decreased simultaneously.The MWCNT developed in this study effectively alleviates neuronal injury after ischemia-reperfusion and promotes the recovery of motor function by regulating the ROS microenvironment,providing a new type of nanomaterial solution for non-invasive treatment of acute nerve injury and having the potential for clinical transformation.
