Abstract:
Sequential carboplatin/etoposide-based high-dose chemotherapy with stem cell support is a standard therapy option for relapsed germ cell tumors, resulting in cure for approximately 50% of patients. In a recent single-center phase II study, results were reported for a novel combination including gemcitabine, melphalan, docetaxel, and carboplatin. See related article by Nieto et al., p. 300.
