Abstract:
New treatment options for blood disorders in older patients often combine oral and subcutaneous therapies, making outpatient care possible. This can improve the patient's quality of life. However, it also requires greater coordination between community-based care and hospitals. In this context, the role of coordinating nurses (Idec) is growing in hematology departments. They provide therapeutic education, regular telephone follow-up, and contact with local hospitals and private practices in order to optimize the patient's care pathway and quality of life.
