Medical hypnosis is defined as an induced altered state of consciousness, characterized by focused attention and increased receptivity to suggestions, which can be used for therapeutic purposes. Chronic respiratory diseases are a major cause of morbidity and significantly impact patients' quality of life due to symptoms such as dyspnea and cough, which are often accompanied by anxiety. Hypnosis has shown beneficial effects on anxiety in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma control, and optimization of pulmonary rehabilitation. It also helps improve comfort during procedures such as bronchoscopy. Although the available data remain limited and mostly come from small-scale studies, they tend to support the potential role of hypnosis as an adjunctive treatment in pulmonology.
