Fifth-generation dentin bonding agents (DBAs) were evaluated for shear bond strength (SBS) to human dentin. DentGist Nano-Bond and Coltene One Coat Bond SL showed superior performance in this in vitro study.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare the shear bond strength (SBS) of four commercially available fifth-generation DBAs to human dentin.
  • To identify which DBA exhibits superior bonding performance in an in vitro setting.

Main Methods:

  • 120 extracted human premolars were prepared into dentin blocks.
  • Four groups of DBAs were applied according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Shear bond strength was tested using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min.

Main Results:

  • Coltene One Coat Bond SL (19.92 ± 2.80 MPa) and DentGist Nano-Bond (19.81 ± 2.36 MPa) exhibited the highest SBS.

  • Prevest DenPro Fusion Bond 5 demonstrated significantly lower SBS (16.05 ± 0.73 MPa) compared to the other agents.

  • DentGist Nano-Bond and Coltene One Coat Bond SL demonstrated superior performance among the tested fifth-generation DBAs.
  • Findings guide clinical selection of dentin bonding agents for durable restorations.
