Abstract:
Acquired tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) following delayed removal of an ingested button battery in children often presents with nonspecific symptoms and carries high morbidity. Early diagnosis using imaging and endoscopy is essential. Proximal TEF can be successfully managed through a lateral cervical approach with primary repair and interposition of an omohyoid muscle flap, which helps prevent recurrence and promotes favorable outcomes.
