"Improving Aesthetic, Function and Healing Process of The Nose with The Scroll Flap"

The anatomical and functional integrity of the nasal valve region, including the scroll area and its ligamentous attachments, plays a critical role in both nasal airflow and aesthetic contour. We describe a surgical technique that modifies and repositions the cephalic portion of the lateral crus, termed the Scroll Flap, to reinforce valvular structures and contribute to more stable tip and sidewall support. The flap remains partially attached to the soft tissue envelope and is repositioned to approximate its original anatomical orientation. This maneuver aims to reduce dead space, maintain soft tissue continuity, and facilitate more controlled skin redraping. By re-establishing the interface between the lateral crus, upper lateral cartilage, and surrounding soft tissue, the technique may also restore aspects of muscle-cartilage connection disrupted during traditional dissection. Although further study is warranted, the approach appears to provide both functional and aesthetic benefits, particularly in cases requiring tip rotation and scroll area reconstruction.
