Does oXiris Matter? A Comparative Outcome Study in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy-Treated Septic Intensive Care

The oXiris hemofilter improved survival in sepsis patients requiring continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Despite higher initial inflammatory markers, oXiris use was linked to better ICU survival and shorter CRRT duration.

- oXiris use was independently associated with improved survival (OR 1.68, 95% CI 1.09-2.60, p=0.020) and markedly shorter CRRT duration (56.4 vs. 107.4 h, p<0.001).
- Hemodynamic stabilization was more pronounced with oXiris, though inflammatory markers remained elevated and platelet counts decreased in both groups.
Conclusions:
- The oXiris filter was associated with significantly higher ICU survival rates in sepsis patients undergoing CRRT.
- Persistent elevations in CRP and PCT, and thrombocytopenia, suggest these markers may not fully reflect therapeutic response.
- Further randomized trials are necessary to confirm oXiris efficacy and address potential confounders.
