1Institute of Forensic Research, Krakow, Poland.
Ecstasy tablets seized in Poland contained 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA), MDA, and a novel substance, 3,4-methylenedioxy-N,N-dimethylamphetamine (MDDM). The unpredictable mix of psychoactive drugs poses significant public health risks.
Area of Science:
- Forensic Chemistry
- Analytical Chemistry
- Pharmacology
Background:
- Ecstasy tablets often contain undisclosed psychoactive substances beyond 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA).
- New psychoactive substances (NPS) present significant risks due to unknown composition and effects.
- Illicit drug markets are dynamic, with evolving synthetic routes and product compositions.
