Abstract:
Several types of intraocular lenses (IOLs) can be used during cataract surgery to correct refractive error of the eye. The purpose of this study is to evaluate one of them: AcrySof IQ Vivity toric IOL, a toric implant with extended depth of focus. 27 eyes were implanted with the AcrySof IQ Vivity toric IOL. This prospective study evaluates refractive and visual outcomes and rotational stability at three months after implantation of a toric EDOF IOL, under standardised photopic conditions, uncontrolled. The main objective is to describe the mean corrected visual acuity at 3 months. Secondary objectives are to describe the monocular visual performance of the. IOL and binocular visual performance in patients implanted in both eyes with at least one toric IOL on one side and one toric or non-toric IOL on the other side, as well as patient satisfaction at 3 months. The median monocular DCIVA at 66 cm was 0.16 logMAR (95% CI 0.1 to 0.23), which was comparable to the OUS study of 0.175 logMAR (95% CI 0.148 to 0.202). The spherical equivalent was 0.11 ± 0.31 D (n = 27) and the residual astigmatism was - 0.42 ± 0.25 D 3 months after surgery. The mean monocular values of CDVA, DCIVA, DCNVA and UDVA, UIVA, UNVA were 0.06 ± 0.08, 0.16 ± 0.11, 0.39 ± 0.14 and 0.07 ± 0.08, 0.20 ± 0.15, 0.46 ± 0.2 logMAR, respectively. IOL rotation was 3.52 ± 2.87 degrees, with 86% of subjects undergoing IOL rotation ≤ 5°. Among the 27 patients who received bilateral Vivity implants, including at least one toric Vivity implant, 81% of the subjects never or rarely needed glasses at intermediate distance in bright light. 41% of the patients reported no glare and 48% no halos. AcrySof IQ Vivity toric IOL achieves good intermediate vision refractive results comparable to those of the OUS study evaluating Vivity DFT015, with good rotational stability.Trial registration the study was registered with the French Clinical Register (NCT: 05416177).
