Abstract:
Three undescribed compounds (named indicalatucas A-C), including two lignans (1 and 2) and an abscisic alcohol glycoside (3), together with six known neolignans (4-9), were extracted from the leaves of Lactuca indica L. Their structures were elucidated using HRESIMS, ECD, and NMR spectroscopy. Among them, compound 1 significaltly inhibited NO production in LPS-activated RAW 264.7 cells (IC50: 15.8 µM).

Inducible Operons: lac Operon
1.3K
The lac operon in Escherichia coli is a model for understanding inducible gene regulation and metabolic flexibility. It integrates local control by lactose and global regulation through catabolite repression, enabling E. coli to preferentially metabolize glucose when available and switch to lactose utilization when glucose is scarce.Structure and Function of the lac OperonThe lac operon contains three structural genes: lacZ (β-galactosidase), lacY (lactose permease), and lacA...

Eukaryotic Transcription Inhibitors
10.8K
Certain biochemical processes, such as embryonic development and cell growth regulation, depend on the repression of specific genes. DNA binding proteins known as eukaryotic transcription inhibitors regulate the repression of gene expression in eukaryotes. The presence of these inhibitors at the required location and time in the cell is triggered by the presence of hormones and additional signals from other cells.
