Stem cell factor (SCF) and its receptor cKIT regulate Hypoxia-inducible factor-2α (HIF-2α) in hypoxic endothelial cells. This SCF/cKIT/HIF-2α pathway is crucial for pathological angiogenesis in ischemic eye diseases.
