  • FD patients showed poorer performance on SCWT, DST, and WCST compared to HCs.
  • Specifically, FD patients had longer completion times, lower digit span scores, and more errors on cognitive tests.
  • Poorer EFs in FD patients correlated negatively with early satiation and postprandial fullness, and with disease duration.

Conclusions:

  • FD patients exhibit significant deficits in executive functions.
  • These cognitive impairments are associated with the duration and specific symptoms of functional dyspepsia.
  • Targeting EFs may be beneficial in managing FD.
